The upcoming Michigan basketball season is bound to be a big one for Juwan Howard and the Wolverines, who are seeking redemption after a subpar year in 2022-23. The future of the basketball program appears to be hanging in the balance as the Wolverines look to get back on track this winter. The schedule seems tough, but there are a few games that truly stand out. Here are two non-conference games on the 2023-24 slate that appear to be noteworthy.
2 non-conference games to watch on the 2023-24 Michigan basketball schedule
This winter, Michigan basketball will play an interesting non-conference schedule, which is less daunting than last year’s. Instead of facing North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky, the Wolverines will be up against lesser-known programs. Nevertheless, two games stand out among the rest.
The first intriguing non-conference matchup for Michigan basketball is against Oregon on December 2nd. It has been a few years since the Maize and Blue faced off against the Ducks. This winter, the Wolverines will head to PAC-12 country for a Power 6 matchup with Oregon.
The second notable game is against the Florida Gators from the SEC. They will be facing off against Michigan basketball at the Jumpman Invitational in North Carolina on December 19th. Oregon and Florida are the only two formidable Power 6 opponents on Michigan’s 2023-24 schedule outside of invitational tournament play. Although it may not be as captivating as previous non-conference slates, the Wolverines still have a few significant matchups before beginning Big Ten conference play in the upcoming season, which should be a solid measuring stick for the Wolverines.
