This weekend, the Wolverines did not take the field due to their bye week; however, Jim Harbaugh and his team were still among the top headlines in all of sports. According to Bruce Feldman, one of the top analysts in the sport of college football, the Michigan football scandal could be “damning” for the Wolverines, assuming all of the information presented regarding the team’s alleged sign-stealing operation thus far is accurate.

Analyst calls Michigan football scandal “damning for the Wolverines”

Bruce Feldman says that he has talked to a number of college football coaches, and his conclusion on the Michigan football sign-stealing scandal is that it could be damning for the Maize and Blue. Obviously, this is operating under the assumption that all of the information presented thus far is accurate and paints the full picture, which is an incredibly bold leap of faith to make. Here is some of what the famed analyst had to say on FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff yesterday.

“Over the past week, I’ve interviewed over 30 coaches around the country,” Bruce Feldman said on Big Noon Kickoff yesterday, talking about the sign-stealing investigation. “Almost all of them believe — if the information is accurate as it’s been laid out publicly — this looks very damning for the Wolverines. A Group of 5 head coach told me yesterday that he is just baffled that they left such a paper trail in this. Quote — ‘In some ways, they should be held accountable for their sheer stupidity.’ That’s how bad this looks for the Wolverines right now.”

Wolverines still making a push for the Big Ten and national titles despite sign-stealing allegations

Now, we won’t argue with one point that Feldman makes here, which is that this is not a great look for Michigan football in the public eye, especially as the Wolverines head into a crucial stretch next month that includes Penn State and Ohio State. Still, we are going to wait for all of the facts to come out to make any predictions on how things will play out for Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines.

Additionally, the latest reports confirm that there is little-to-no chance that the NCAA will step in before the 2023 season ends. The Big Ten and College Football Playoff are also unlikely to take action this fall, so the bottom line for Michigan football right now is simple: time to play ball and make a push for the national championship.
