Another sign that Dusty May will do well with Michigan basketball

Michigan basketball has announced all six of its transfer portal commitments, meaning we won’t have any issues like under Juwan Howard.

One of the biggest issues for Michigan basketball under Juwan Howard was roster management. Oftentimes, Howard was good at getting commitments from players who weren’t able to attend Michigan, at least not without losing credits in their transfer.

It’s something that has probably annoyed every Michigan basketball fan. It’s caused the football program to miss out on transfers too. But that’s how it works when so many of your credits have to come from the University of Michigan (never was about grades) in order to graduate.

Michigan won’t be haunted by the same issues

So when Dusty May built his class of transfers on four players with at least two years of eligibility, it made you wonder if all of them would make it to Michigan after multiple players didn’t under Howard.

But Dusty May said they were going to invest in finding the right fits and Michigan basketball has done that. Now, all transfers have been officially announced, which means they have signed with the Wolverines.

Vlad Goldin and Danny Wolf were the latest. I’ll admit, I worried about Wolf a little because his announcement took longer than the others. But he transferred from Yale and Goldin was a graduate transfer just like Rubin Jones.

Roddy Gayle, Tre Donaldson, and Sam Walters all transferred as underclassmen. Yet, it didn’t take long for them to be announced. It’s amazing how things work out with a little planning and this is just another sign that Dusty May and Michigan basketball will work out really well in the long term.
