On Feb. 21, 2026, Michigan will meet Duke on the basketball court for the first time in 13 years. The blue bloods will square off at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., as the Wolverines will look for their second ever win against the Blue Devils.
Michigan has an 8-22 all-time record in the series.
Michigan set to play Duke in Washington DC
The last time Michigan played Duke, the latter came out on top 79-69 (2013). The Wolverines’ lone win over the Blue Devils came in the 2008-09 season by a score of 81-73.
Duke and Michigan have played at a neutral site three times – Lahaina, HI (2011-12), Charlotte, NC (2010-11) and New York, NY (2008-09). Since the last matchup, legendary Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski retired and left the program to one of his former players in Jon Scheyer.
The “Duel in the District” takes place when the conference races begin to heat up, so it could act as a needed break from familiar opponents. The Wolverines are looking for their first regular season Big Ten title since 2021. Head coach Dusty May is entering his second season at the helm after going 27-10 and winning the Big Ten tournament in his first go-round.
It will be a huge test for Michigan when the time comes, and a win would go a long way towards proving it has what it takes to compete for a national championship.
