Rod Moore, a standout safety on the Michigan football team, was named an early player to watch for the 2024 NFL Draft by ESPN. The Wolverines’ star defensive back recorded 71 tackles, four interceptions, and three pass breakups during Michigan’s incredible 13-1 season in 2022.

Rod Moore at Michigan thus far

Rod Moore is a rising junior with the Michigan Wolverines and has already established himself as one of the Big Ten’s top defenders. Throughout his two seasons in Ann Arbor, Moore has recorded 104 tackles, four interceptions, and four pass breakups; in 2022, Moore managed to earn a starting role in Michigan’s defensive backfield.

Last season, Rod Moore was named an All-Big Ten honorable mention by the coaches and media and shared the team’s defensive player of the week award on five separate occasions.

Heading into the 2023 season, Moore’s name is already floating around as one of the top safeties to watch as an NFL Draft prospect.

What does ESPN have to say about Rod Moore?

Here is what ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller had to say about Rod Moore as we approach the 2023 season this fall:

“The 2022 Michigan defense was basically an All-Big Ten roster, and many of those players are now headed to the NFL, but Moore returns and has a chance to be an All-American performer. Moore grabbed four interceptions in 2022, and he continued to develop throughout the season. He played his best football against Purdue and TCU, and he heads into the 2023 season with a ton of momentum.”

If you’re a fan of Michigan football, you already knew that Rod Moore was a diamond in the rough; now, the NFL is also starting to take note.
