Michigan signed the No. 9 composite recruiting class in the nation during the 2022 cycle. Still, the Wolverines missed out on one of the best cornerback targets in the nation at the time: former four-star CB Bobby Taylor, who elected to commit to Texas A&M. Now, the former four-star Michigan football cornerback target is in the transfer portal and could be an immediate solution to Michigan’s troubles with cornerback depth this fall.

On Tuesday, Texas A&M cornerback Bobby Taylor — a former four-star recruit and top-ranked cornerback in the class of 2022 — entered the transfer portal. While the Aggies continue to deal with their transfer portal epidemic, another major talent is back on the market and could be precisely what Jim Harbaugh is looking for heading into the 2023 college football season.

Cornerback is among the few concerns for the Michigan football team in 2023. The Wolverines are loaded all over the board, though with rising sophomore Will Johnson — Michigan’s CB1 — injured, there are depth concerns at corner right now. Additionally, Michigan has no true CB2, and some of the younger corners (such as Amorion Walker) did not exactly look game-ready during the spring game on April 1st.

Last Saturday, the spring transfer portal window began, and Bobby Taylor’s decision to transfer from TAMU could be great news for the Michigan football team this fall.

Ratings and rankings for Taylor

As a high school recruit, Bobby Taylor was a 2022 Michigan football cornerback target, though the Wolverines missed him as he headed to SEC country. Taylor, a native of Katy, TX, was rated as a four-star cornerback by the 247 Sports Composite rankings and was ranked as the No. 193 player in the 2022 class, the No. 25 cornerback in the country, and the No. 30 recruit in the state of Texas.

While Michigan football missed out the first time around, his presence in the transfer portal has certainly turned some heads in Ann Arbor as the coaching staff looks to work out its depth concerns at cornerback ahead of summer camp.
