The Juwn Howard era has been all over the place as of late, though this week, a new unexpected rumor started. The initial speculation that Juwan Howard and U-M strength coach Jon Sanderson got into a physical brawl has since been debunked, though it now appears that it was more verbal than anything. Today, former Michigan basketball star and current NBA player Jett Howard, Juwan’s son, took to social media to fire back at the scandal rumors amid a University of Michigan-led investigation into the matter.
Former Michigan basketball star Jett Howard fires back at scandal rumors
Per the latest reports, the University of Michigan has started an investigation into an alleged incident between Michigan basketball head coach Juwan Howard and long-time strength coach Jon Sanderson. Sanderson filed an HR complaint shortly after the incident occurred, and aside from some anonymous sources stirring up more speculation, there are few concrete details surrounding Howard and his status right now.
Juwan Howard-Jon Sanderson incident still under University of Michigan-led investigation
That said, his title as the Wolverines’ men’s basketball head coach remains unchanged, and there is still no sign that the University of Michigan plans on changing that before the end of the season. However, that did not stop the Twitter rumor mill from cranking out more speculation regarding the scandal and investigation over the weekend — even stating that Juwan Howard had hit Sanderson.
What did Jett Howard say?
In response to this rumor, Juwan Howard’s son — NBA lottery pick and former Michigan basketball star Jett Howard — took to Twitter to debunk the rumors.
“Before y’all make any speculations about something, know the full story,” Jett Howard wrote. “Grown men acting like middle schoolers spreading false rumors/information and trying to degrade another man. Grow up, hella childish.. He ain’t hit no one either, stop with the BS.”
Still no comment from U-M hoops or Juwan Howard
As I said, Michigan basketball and Juwan Howard are yet to comment on the matter; in fact, against Iowa on Sunday, Jon Sanderson was not with the team. For now, we will all have to wait and see what happens, though the Wolverines will be re-taking the court this weekend against Eastern Michigan with a chance to back above .500 ahead of Big Ten Conference play.
