Michigan football has to figure out its quarterback situation this offseason, but it has plenty of talent in the room. Incoming No. 1 recruit Bryce Underwood would be the ideal starter in terms of potential, but if he’s not ready, Jadyn Davis could finally get his shot. Fresno State transfer Mikey Keene is also in the conversation.
Ron Bellamy shares insight on Michigan quarterback competition
Davis was a four-star recruit coming out of Providence Day High (Charlotte, NC) in 2024. Listed at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, Davis was a top ten quarterback (No. 9) in his class according to 247Sports.
Despite the Wolverines’ struggles throwing the ball last season, Davis never threw a pass. Pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy said Davis has been showing everyone why Michigan wanted him.
“Bryce and Jadyn. Jadyn looks good. They both are doing some really good things out there,” Bellamy said. “Bryce is just like the receivers in the sense of he’s learning. You see the physical talent – ball placement, arm strength, mobility – you see all that stuff and you get excited because you know what can be once he gets a full grasp of the offense.
“The same thing with Jadyn Davis, you see, like ‘man, okay this is why we went to Charlotte and got him out of Charlotte’. Those guys are competing and learning and they have a great coach in coach Lindsey leading the way. It’s been awesome watching their development (of) both guys.”
No matter who is under center, the Wolverines should be more explosive with new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey.
