Just two days ago, Michigan football recruiting successfully secured an official visit from Justin Scott, a highly coveted five-star recruit in the 2024 class, who ranks among the top 10 recruits in the nation. However, today brought some unfortunate news for the Wolverines, as the Miami Hurricanes emerged as heavy favorites to land the talented five-star defensive lineman, according to a new insider prediction.

Who is Michigan football recruiting target Justin Scott?

The 2024 Michigan football recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the best that Wolverines fans have seen in quite some time. So far, Michigan has 17 hard commits in the class, including a five-star quarterback, and throughout the upcoming official visit season in June, Jim Harbaugh could land even more talented prospects. One of the biggest official visits that Michigan earned was from five-star defensive lineman Justin Scott, the No. 8 recruit in the cycle.

Justin Scott, a highly sought-after prospect in the current market, has garnered significant attention from top-tier programs vying for his commitment. In his recent announcement, Scott disclosed the official visits he has planned, with Michigan football successfully securing a spot.

According to Scott’s announcement, he has scheduled a visit to Michigan from June 9th to 11th. This visit will mark his second trip, following his visit to see Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs. Notably, Scott will be heading to Ann Arbor before making stops in Columbus and Miami, which will be his final two destinations on his visit tour.

Scott’s impressive achievements include being ranked as the No. 8 overall recruit in the nation, the second-ranked defensive lineman in the 2024 class, and the top recruit in Illinois, according to the ON3 rankings. Currently, Miami is leading his recruitment according to the RPM rankings; however, Michigan remains a strong contender and is among the top four in the mix.

Miami trending to land the five-star

Today, ON3 issued a new prediction favoring the Miami Hurricanes in their pursuit of Justin Scott. This development might be disheartening, considering that the visit season has not even begun. It is important to note that this prediction does not guarantee Scott’s ultimate decision, but when combined with the Hurricanes’ strong odds according to RPM, it does not bode well for the Michigan Wolverines.
