This season, Michigan basketball rising sophomore center Tarris Reed Jr. will take over as the full-time starting big man for the Wolverines. Last year, that job belonged to Hunter Dickinson, who has since hit the transfer portal and headed to Kansas. Yesterday, the Maize and Blue offered a new rising prospect: Tristan Reed, a class of 2026 center and the younger brother of the Wolverines’ star center — this is a good move by head coach Juwan Howard.
Michigan basketball offers familiar face in the class of 2026
Tristan Reed is the newest recruiting target for Michigan basketball, as they offered him a scholarship yesterday evening, according to Reed’s Twitter account. Tarris Reed Jr. is stepping into a much larger role for the Wolverines this fall, and, as seen from his freshman-year performance with the Maize and Blue during the 2022-23 season, he appears to have the potential to become an exceptional talent in Ann Arbor.
From the looks of things, it appears that Juwan Howard is thinking far ahead, hoping to lock down the next Tarris Reed by landing his class of 2026 younger brother, who already stands at 6-foot-8 and weighs over 210 pounds. It is far too early to tell where Reed’s younger brother is going to end up, but it’s clear that the Wolverines want to get their foot in the door as early as they can, which will bode well for the program down the road.
