Over recent weeks, Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore wasn’t just looking for players to improve the team. The Wolverines will have to rebuild part of their offensive line in 2025, but they’ll have more assistance on the coaching side with the addition of Juan Castillo.

Michigan football adds Juan Castillo to offensive staff

Castillo was UCLA’s offensive line coach in 2024 and has nearly 30 years of NFL experience. Before he joined the Bruins, Castillo was the tight ends coach for the Washington Commanders (2022-2023) and the offensive line coach for the Chicago Bears (2020-2022).

In 2019 he was an offensive analyst for the Wolverines under Jim Harbaugh. Castillo most notably coached the trenches for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1995 to 2012.

“Coach Castillo has been a guy I’ve known for a long time, obviously been here and been back, so he’ll be back helping,” Moore said earlier this week. “Just a veteran guy that’s been in the NFL, that’s been in college, groomed really high quality offensive linemen. Obviously that’s an important position for me. I want guys that I feel like can help that position as much as possible, and feel like he can bring a lot to the table.”

Castillo will reportedly serve as an offensive analyst and work with the offensive line moving forward.
