ANN ARBOR, MI — The Michigan Wolverines have recently turned the tide in their rivalry with the Ohio State Buckeyes. From winning by large margins on the field to beating the Buckeyes for top prospects in their own state, there is no denying that Michigan football is on the rise right now. Recently, it was reported that the Wolverines have added something special to Schembechler Hall: the flag that was planted at center field during Michigan’s 45-23 win over Ohio State in Columbus last season.

Michigan football adds infamous flag from 2022 to Schembechler Hall in Ann Arbor

Just a few short months ago, the Michigan football team marched into Columbus with an 11-0 record and a No. 3 ranking. On the other sideline was fellow CFP team Ohio State, who was ranked No. 2 and also boasted an 11-0 record. ‘The Game’ was to decide the Big Ten championship winner (seeing as the Big Ten West champion was Purdue), and despite OSU being a better team on paper, Michigan football handled the Buckeyes for the second year in a row.

After Michigan’s incredible 22-point win over Ohio State, the Wolverines promptly grabbed a ‘Block M’ flag, ran it to center field, and planted it in the middle of Ohio State’s ‘Block O’ as a sign of disrespect and ownership of the stadium. Now, that infamous and controversial flag sits on display in the middle of Schembechler Hall (Michigan’s football building).
