Michigan football has had one of the most formidable defensive fronts in the country over recent years. It was the backbone of the national championship defense, and it remained the same this season. The unit just got stronger as 2025 four-star defensive end Nate Marshall flipped his commitment from Auburn to Michigan on Tuesday.
Michigan Flips 4-Star DE Nate Marshall
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds, Marshall (Fenwick High, Oak Park, IL) possesses great quickness for his size. Marshall won defensive player of the year in his league as a junior with 16 tackles for loss, six sacks, four forced fumbles and four blocked kicks. He also recorded four touchdown catches. Marshall has enough size to play on the interior, but he would likely be deployed as a edge rusher.
“I really like Michigan,” Marshall told On3. “I like how they utilize their defensive line and have their defensive ends play out of a two-point stance. I like playing out of a two-point stance because you’re able to visualize more. They’ve also produced a lot of great players.”
Michigan has been a trampoline to the NFL for several defensive ends recently.
“They have had guys like Aidan Hutchinson and more,” Marshall said. “I really like the production. It tells me that they know what they are doing and that I can trust them.”
Marshall is ranked as a top ten defensive lineman on nearly every recruiting platform, and Rivals has him at No. 2.
