ANN ARBOR, MI — On Sunday, the University of Michigan extended a football scholarship offer to four-star 2023 athlete Brandyn Hillman. Hillman had signed with the Fighting Irish during the 2023 cycle; however, due to a personal circumstance, Hillman was released from his letter of intent at Notre Dame and is back on the market. It is no secret that Michigan football signed a relatively disappointing 2023 class given the team’s on-field success in 2022, though adding this massive four-star would absolutely help bring that class’s rank up a notch.

Michigan football going after former Notre Dame commit Brandyn Hillman

Brandyn Hillman is a four-star athlete in the 2023 class that had previously inked his commitment to Marcus Freeman’s Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Hillman is ranked as the No. 137 player in the 2023 class, the No. 5 athlete, and the No. 4 player in the state of Virginia. He is a product of Churchland High School in Portsmouth, VA, and has an impressive 6-1, 190-pound frame to match his athletic ability. Needless to say, there’s a good reason that Jim Harbaugh and his staff are going after the former Golden Domer.

Michigan offers Hillman shortly after leaving Notre Dame

On Sunday afternoon, Brandyn Hillman announced that he is no longer committed to Notre Dame. Less than two hours later, Jim Harbaugh had offered Hillman a scholarship to play for the Michigan Wolverines instead. According to his Twitter, the Wolverines were the first program to offer him after decommitting from the Fighting Irish over the weekend.
