Today, the 2nd-ranked Wolverines (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) downed the Indiana Hoosiers (2-4, 0-3 Big Ten) 52-7 at the Big House in Ann Arbor. After the game, Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy — who had a stellar game this afternoon — explained his team’s new post-game tradition after victories.

Michigan football has had a few post-win traditions since Jim Harbaugh arrived back in 2015. The Wolverines sing the fight song (The Victors) and give one another high fives; however, recently, it sounds like the team added a new one: singing ‘Jolly Good Fellow’ for some of the game’s top performers.

“Tradition, tradition, you know what it is? We just sing the victors, give each other a high five and — actually, Coach Harbaugh added A Jolly Good Fellow,” Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy said. “So whatever player has a great game, he starts, ‘He’s a jolly good fellow,’ and just sings that all the way through. So a little add-on to it which is great.”

Against Indiana, Michigan football had a lot of standout performers, though two players were today’s “Jolly Good Fellow.”

According to JJ McCarthy, freshman wide receiver Semaj Morgan and sixth-year linebacker Mike Barrett were today’s jolly good fellows, earning praise after the Wolverines’ 52-7 victory over the Hoosiers. Next weekend, Michigan football will face the Michigan State Spartans — who just lost to Rutgers — on the road in East Lansing before a well-earned Week 9 bye.
