This afternoon, an official injury report was released for the Wolverines — we will have more on that shortly. That said, a notable name stands out among the players ruled ‘OUT’ for today’s Week 2 matchup against the UNLV Rebels. Makari Paige, a Michigan football star defender at safety, will not see the field today. Last weekend, Paige saw action, while other defensive back stars like Rod Moore and Will Johnson sat.

Michigan football star defender Makari Paige ruled ‘OUT’ due to injury

Makari Paige, a starting safety for Michigan football and one of the top-graded (PFF) defensive backs in the entire Big Ten, will miss today’s Week 2 matchup against UNLV. Paige saw some reps last weekend, though was taken out pretty early — according to defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, Paige saw action to set the tempo for the younger defensive backs.

This weekend, it could be Rod Moore and/or Will Johnson setting the tone for the Wolverines, seeing as Makari Paige has officially been ruled out for this afternoon’s game. This is not ideal news for the Maize and Blue, though, seeing as Michigan’s Week 2 opponent is UNLV, it will likely not make a world of difference in the game’s outcome.

With Big Ten play opening at the end of the month, there is a good chance that Paige is simply resting to get back to 100% as the Wolverines play a sub-par non-conference slate.
