Recently, during Big Ten Media Day in Indianapolis, IN, a Michigan football star player — defensive back Mike Sainristil — named three Wolverines who could win the Heisman Trophy in 2023. According to Sainristil, who is stepping into a bigger leadership role this fall, Donovan Edwards, Blake Corum, and JJ McCarthy are all good enough to bring home a Heisman this season as the Maize and Blue chase a Big Ten and national title.

Big Ten Media Day, which took place on Thursday for the Wolverines, was quite eventful for Michigan football. From Jim Harbaugh to a few of his top players, such as Mike Sainristil and Blake Corum, a lot was said about this year’s team, which could be the best squad that Ann Arbor has seen in quite some time.

According to Michigan football star player Mike Sainristil, these three could win the Heisman Trophy for Michigan during the coming season — Blake Corum, Donovan Edwards, and JJ McCarthy. Last year, Corum nearly finished as a Heisman candidate but fell just shy due to a Week 12 knee injury against the Illinois Fighting Illini.

Donovan (Edwards), Blake (Corum), JJ (McCarthy), those are three guys that can potentially win a Heisman in my opinion,” Mike Sainristil said on Thursday, per On3. “If that doesn’t drive them enough, what will?

“… I know one thing JJ has been working on daily is his leadership skills. Just trying to continue pushing guys in the right direction. I think somebody like me can help him do that. Just continuing being around him and leading him in the right direction.

“… It’s like who do you prepare for (Blake Corum or Donovan Edwards)? Do you prepare do for Blake, or do you prepare for Donovan? I just like (that) it gives us so many options when we have people like that in our backfield,” Sainristil concluded.
