Ahead of the 2023 college football season, Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines landed one of the best football transfer portal classes in the entire country. All said and done, Michigan pulled seven new additions from the portal, all of which should have an immediate role on this fall’s team. Of these new additions, perhaps none were more important than new Michigan football transfer linebacker Ernest Hausmann, who claims he is starting to settle into his new program and its culture.

Wolverines add Michigan football transfer linebacker to 2023 roster

With some questions surrounding the health of Michigan’s linebackers, Ernest Hausmann was a much-needed addition to this fall’s roster. In 2022, Hausmann saw action on Nebraska’s sideline, even playing a game in the Big House during the Wolverines’ 34-3 victory over the Cornhuskers in November.

Now, heading into a season that Michigan football is expected to be a national title contender for the third year in a row, Hausmann’s presence could be the deciding factor between wins and losses in some of the team’s bigger games, such as at Penn State and against Ohio State.

Hausmann is settling into his new home quite well

Since arriving in Ann Arbor, Ernest Hausmann says that there have been some challenges, but it is nothing that he cannot handle or has not adjusted to.

“One of the biggest adjustments, honestly, is just learning another defense,” Hausmann said according to Wolverines Wire. “That’s one of the things that I knew entering into the transfer portal is that now what you have to do is pick up another defense. So learning a defense is a language, right? Being able to be on the same page on the language will get you on the field.

“So that was probably the biggest thing that I had to pick up on, just learning a different language.”

New Wolverine linebacker is locked in helping his team and defense

When you come to the University of Michigan, you come to win titles — from the Big Ten to the College Football Playoff, few teams compete at as high of a level as the Michigan Wolverines. According to the new Michigan football transfer linebacker, he loves how competitive it is in Ann Arbor, and is looking forward to playing ball under Jim Harbaugh.

“I love competition. I knew that coming into here at Michigan, that that was gonna be the case,” Hausmann said. “It’s one of the things that you just strive to be better for. And, when you go through that process of competition and the depth chart and those things, for me, I just thought to myself, you can’t control who’s gonna be placed one, two, three, but you can control what I’m gonna be able to do each and every day. So I’ve got to take great pride in what I do each day, my habits each day.”

With the presence of Ernest Hausmann and more, few teams are looking more competitive for the 2024 national title than this year’s Michigan Wolverines.
