It was a tough weekend for the Michigan Wolverines hockey team, who went 0-1-1 against the Ohio State Buckeyes in a two-game road trip to Columbus and Cleveland. After leaving Ohio winless, let’s have a Michigan hockey rankings update.

Michigan Hockey Rankings Update: Where Are The Wolverines?

Heading into the Ohio State series, the Michigan Wolverines were 1-1 against the Buckeyes on the season, and were riding high to the tune of a seven-game winning streak. Since tying game one and losing game two, the Wolverines now sit at 20-10-2 overall and 12-9-1 in Big Ten play. Today, the newest college hockey rankings were released, and the Michigan Wolverines actually stayed put at No. 4.

Where Does The Rest Of The Big Ten Stand?

Despite a so-so weekend, more than half of the conference still ranks in the top-10 nationally. Here is how the Big Ten ranks in the most recent college hockey top-20 poll: Minnesota (1), Michigan (4), Ohio State (8), Penn State (10), Michigan State (18), Notre Dame (20). The only unranked team in the Big Ten is the Wisconsin Badgers.

The Wolverines final regular-season series will be at home at Yost Ice Arena against the 20th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish (14-14-4, 9-10-3 Big Ten). After that, all focus will shift to the Big Ten and NCAA tournaments, which trump all regular season play.
