The transfer portal opened at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, and the Wolverines found out they were losing a few more players. Early Monday morning Offensive lineman Andrew Gentry and QB Jayden Denegal announced on social media they plan to enter the portal. Additionally, On3 reported ($) linebacker Micah Pollard entered the portal as well.
Nine Michigan Football Players Enter the Portal
Gentry played in all 15 games during the national championship run, but a season-ending injury held him to just two games this season. Formerly a top-100 recruit, Gentry likely would’ve been inserted back in the starting lineup next year. Although it’s a tough loss for the Wolverines, they should be able to make-do.
Denegal threw for 50 yards and a touchdown while he was at Michigan. A member of the 2022 class along with fellow QB Alex Orji, Denegal sat behind Orji, Davis Warren and Jack Tuttle this season. Denegal has two years of eligibility remaining.
Pollard played in 30 games while at Michigan, though he only played in two this season. The linebacker was listed with an undisclosed injury every week after the Texas game. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
The number of players leaving is up to nine, but there could still be more to opt to play elsewhere. Gentry, Denegal and Pollard join RB Cole Cabana, RB Tavierre Dunlap, WR Tyler Morris, OL Raheem Anderson, OL Tristan Bounds and P Tommy Doman.
