On Thursday afternoon, the Michigan Wolverines received some good news on the recruiting trail. Aaron Chiles — a four-star linebacker who is favored to wind up in Ann Arbor — including Michigan football in his top 10 along with two other major Big Ten schools.

The Wolverines are already trending for a number of other big-name prospects in the 2024 class, though Chiles could fill a much-needed linebacker role when the time comes for him to commit. According to On3, Aaron Chiles has a 93.6% chance of winding up in the Maize and Blue. Chiles is a four-star linebacker from Good Counsel in Olney, MA — he stands at 6-3 and weighs in at 220 pounds, so he is a sizable high school prospect to say the least.

Chiles is ranked as the No. 109 player in his class, the No. 9 linebacker, and the No. 1 player in Maryland. The other nine schools in Chiles’ top 10 are:

  • Penn State (Big Ten)
  • Ohio State (Big Ten)
  • Maryland (Big Ten)
  • Notre Dame (Independent)
  • Florida State (ACC)
  • Clemson (ACC)
  • LSU (SEC)
  • Georgia (SEC)
  • Florida (SEC)

Chiles could be Michigan’s 3rd 2024 linebacker

Right now, the Michigan football recruiting class in 2024 ranks 11th in the nation (2nd in Big Ten) with seven commits thus far. Of Michigan’s seven committed players, two are linebackers: four-star Mason Curtis and three-star Zach Ludwig. If the Wolverines can hang onto their lead, Aaron Chiles will be the third 2024 linebacker to choose Michigan football, and would become second-highest rated LB commit in the class (behind Curtis).
