Michigan Football Has Its Own Version Of The “Gold Pants.”

After two-straight victories over the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Michigan football team decided to introduce something new for its players. The Wolverines now have chain necklaces awarded to the team members that were a part of Michigan’s massive victory over Ohio State on November 26th of last year.

Wolverines Take Down Ohio State In 2022

As we all know by now, the Michigan football team absolutely embarrassed the 2nd-ranked Buckeyes in their own stadium a season ago. Both teams entered the game with 11-0 records (8-0 Big Ten), and ranked in the top-3 nationally — at the time, most figured that the game would determine who won the Big Ten and made the College Football Playoff, and who went home with a Rose Bowl bid.

Before the game, every TV analyst except for two picked Ohio State to beat Michigan football — the two that picked Michigan were former Wolverine Heisman Trophy winners Charles Woodson and Desmond Howard. They turned out to be right, as JJ McCarthy, Donovan Edwards, and the Michigan defense went on to destroy OSU in the second half.

When it was all said and done, the Michigan Wolverines escaped Columbus with a 12-0 record and a 22-point victory over their biggest rivals (45-23).

The Devil Is In The Details

The longer you look at Michigan’s new Ohio State chains, the more you’ll love them. On the front, the chain has a massive ‘Block M’ with the words “THE GAME” written across the top. The front also contains the date: November 26th, 2022, and the words “Strong,” “Courageous,” and “Faith.”

As nice as the front looks, the back is far better. The back has a model of The Horseshoe — Ohio State’s stadium — with the score 45-23 planted firmly on the field. Above the stadium sits the phrase “What’s Our Name?” This is referencing Ohio State’s unwillingness to say the word “Michigan” and its tendency to cross out ‘Ms’ all over the state.

For Michigan football fans, the taste of victory has never been sweeter.
