After a week off from game action, the Wolverines are right back in the fire with another top ten opponent. Michigan women’s basketball (10-4, 1-2 Big Ten) will hope to avoid losing its third straight game tonight as it hosts No. 9 Ohio State (14-0, 3-0 Big Ten) at 7 p.m. The Wolverines fell to No. 4 USC on Dec. 29 (78-58) and No. 1 UCLA on Jan. 1 (86-70).

Having lost three of their last four games, the Wolverines have slowly slipped down the rankings over recent weeks. On the bright side, freshman phenom Syla Swords dropped a career-high 30 points on New Year’s Day in her return from a leg injury. Swords appeared to be at full health, as she also played 39 minutes.

In terms of rebound margin, Michigan is the 17th best in the country this season. The Wolverines have four players averaging over five rebounds per game, including two freshmen in Swords (6.5) and Olivia Olson (5.4).

The undefeated Buckeys have won every game by at least ten points, except for two. Ohio State beat Belmont 67-63 and No. 21 Illinois 83-74. Additionally, Illinois is the only ranked team the Buckeyes have played so far.

If Michigan learned from its winless road trip to Los Angeles, it could be the biggest test Ohio State has faced this season.
