On Stadium Blvd Episode 24: “Staff Changes?”

On Stadium Blvd is officially making its appearance on YouTube!

Published

on

Welcome back to Episode 24 of On Stadium Blvd! This episode is very special, as we will expand the show to YouTube! JD returns to the show this week, and we have lots to discuss, starting with a staff change on the football team.

Matt Weiss was recently charged with “computer access crimes,” which led to his firing as co-offensive coordinator and QB coach, raising the question: who will Michigan hire as a replacement? Will they promote from within and look outside for a new QB coach? Lexi, Josh, and JD discuss this. They also bring up if this will lead to Michigan considering this as an opportunity to bring in someone who will open up the passing game more.

After that discussion, the conversation moves toward the basketball team’s past week against Maryland and Minnesota. We have not talked too much about the basketball team with such a busy offseason for football, but we’re ready to bring you guys more content here! We discuss the loss to Maryland and the frustration of losing to them after winning with ease against them at home. The discussion then moves to an ugly win against Minnesota. It was a win that could have brought more excitement, and throwing in an injury to Jett Howard did not give Michigan a lot of positives to take from that win.

After discussing the previous week, the gang previews basketball this coming week. The men’s team has a tough matchup against the number one team in the country, Purdue, followed by a road matchup against Penn State. They discuss the upcoming big-man matchup between Hunter Dickinson and Zach Edey and if Michigan can find a way to win without Jett Howard. They also discuss whether or not Michigan can fix its road woes against Penn State.

The episode wraps up with a short mailbag, where we answer questions about game day songs and the football team’s expectations for next year. Thank you again for listening to On Stadium Blvd!

On Stadium Blvd Episode 25: Special Guest Channing Stribling!

Today was a big day for On Stadium Blvd and we hope you enjoy the show!

Welcome back to On Stadium Blvd! We have a very exciting episode today, as we have a special guest for you guys. We are bringing in former Michigan and current Philadelphia Stars DB Channing Stribling!

Channing Stribling came to Michigan in 2013 and played through the 2016 season. He was one of the best cornerbacks for Michigan in the Harbaugh era and was a key contributor to that elite defense in 2016.

After Channing graduated from Michigan, he pursued a career in professional football. He bounced around a few NFL teams and ultimately landed on the Philadelphia Stars of the newly founded USFL. He has excelled there, leading the league in interceptions in their first year. This accomplishment earned him an All-USFL selection, and the Stars appeared in the inaugural USFL Championship game, with Stribling being a pivotal piece to that team.

In this special episode, Lexi, Josh, and JD interview Stribling and have a great conversation about his current career and his time at Michigan. They ask about the level of play in the USFL, his experience playing in the championship game, and his overall time in the league. After that, Lexi, Josh, and JD ask about his time at Michigan! They ask about his recruitment process, why he chose Michigan, the transition from Brady Hoke to Jim Harbaugh, funny memories from his time at Michigan, and much more!

We were very honored to have Channing Stribling on as our guest, and we hope that you guys enjoyed us talking to him! We were very excited to have a former player on the show, and the conversation was incredible. Thank you for your continued support and for listening to this special episode of On Stadium Blvd!

On Stadium Blvd Episode 23: “Run it Back!”

We had a jam-packed episode, as Michigan football and basketball had a busy couple of weeks!

Published

on

After a short hiatus, On Stadium Blvd returns!!! It’s just Lexi and Josh today, and despite a shorter episode, we are so excited to talk about some great Michigan Football news.

This episode can be defined by three words: “Run it back.” Over the weekend, we saw a ton of returns for Michigan football. It started with Blake Corum a little before that and moved into many more guys. Trevor Keegan, Zak Zinter, Cornelius Johnson, Mike Barrett, and Kris Jenkins ALL announced a return to Michigan for 2023. Citing the words “unfinished business,” it is clear these guys have a national championship on their minds, and Lexi and Josh could not be more excited for the next football season to start.

The mentality and mindset of this team are clear: last season was a bitter and disappointing end, and these guys want to fight the ship and give Michigan the national championship they deserve. Lexi and Josh also shout out Valiant for starting the “One More Year” fund that raised over $100,000! Huge success and one of the primary reasons for all these guys returning.

After this discussion, Lexi and Josh are ecstatic about another, possibly the most significant return for Michigan: Jim Harbaugh. He announced that he would return for the 2023 season, perhaps the last piece for Michigan’s national title run. Lexi and Josh discuss Santa Ono’s role in this and how important he is to the school. It is a nice change of pace for Michigan’s president to have such a deep passion for their athletics, and we would not have retained Harbaugh without Ono’s help. This also may signify some possible tension between athletic director Warde Manuel and Harbaugh, which Lexi and Josh discuss.

The episode ends with Josh going on a little tangent about the basketball team, as he believes that although he’s been harsh on the team, he knows they can turn it around. However, there is still much to look forward to as Michigan fans. Thank you for tuning into episode 23 of “On Stadium Blvd!”
