There are plenty of question marks surrounding Michigan football going into the 2024 season, but Will Johnson isn’t one of them.

The best cornerback in college football is one of the biggest reasons for optimism. When Johnson signed with the Wolverines and started wearing No. 2, you wondered if he could live up to the hype.

But he’s done that. At times, he has looked like the second coming of Charles Woodson. The Michigan football star made a huge interception against Ohio State in ‘The Game.’  He made another in the national championship at a crucial point.

If Johnson was eligible for the 2024 NFL draft, I have no doubt that he would been the first cornerback off the board. He’s going to be the first one off the board in 2025. Some have even suggested that he could be the running for the No. 1 overall pick.

Michigan head coach gushes about Will Johnson

Sherrone Moore talked about Johnson recently in an episode of the “In The Trenches Podcast” and gushed about the Michigan football star:

“He’s got all the ability in the world. He’s got the mindset, does it right off the field. He’s a leader. He does everything you want.”

Johnson intercepted four passes last season. He also had four pass breakups and a defensive touchdown. Max Chadwick of PFF was also singing the praises of the Michigan football cornerback earlier this week: “He has all the physical traits you’d want in a cornerback at 6-foot-2 and 202 pounds with excellent speed, footwork, and ball skills for the position.”
