Yesterday, following the Wolverines’ 35-7 victory over the UNLV Rebels, interim head coaches Mike Hart and Jay Harbaugh addressed the media. As many fans noticed, there are three star players being limited or not seeing game action in the defensive backfield right now — Makari Paige (safety), Rod Moore (safety), and Will Johnson (cornerback). We got major Michigan football injury updates on all three Wolverines yesterday evening.

3 major Michigan football injury updates following the win over UNLV Rebels

Yesterday, Michigan football took home a second-straight victory, improving to 2-0 on the season with a solid 35-7 victory over the UNLV Rebels. Just as we saw in Week 1, the Wolverines rotated a lot of young faces in and did not have starters in for much of the third (and all of the fourth) quarter.

Still, there were a few faces missing from Michigan’s defensive lineup; namely, the Wolverines’ top defensive backs all sat due to injuries, including Makari Paige, who saw game action the weekend before. Following the game, interim head coach and defensive backs coach Jay Harbaugh gave us a status update on Paige, Moore, and Johnson — per our newest information, all three Wolverines should be good to go as early as next weekend against Bowling Green.

Jay Harbaugh updates injuries for three star Wolverines

Here is what Jay Harbaugh said after yesterday’s win in regards to Will Johnson, Rod Moore, and Makari Paige — all of whom are battling through injury right now.

“Rod (Moore) and Makari (Paige), they’re coming along,” Jay Harbaugh said of safeties Rod Moore and Makari Paige. “They’ve been practicing, and I think we should have a good shot at them being available for this next game. Them being out is a blessing for some of the other guys just to be able to get in there and get some live action, maybe even before they’re fully ready. So you just get better so much faster when you do get into games, and you’re able to coach up those live reps, so really been pretty pleased with them, but still a ton of stuff to clean up.”

What about star sophomore cornerback Will Johnson, who has notable missed both of Michigan’s games to this point?

“Yeah, Will (Johnson) is fine,” Jay Harbaugh added.

Next weekend, when Bowling Green comes to town for the final game of the Michigan football non-conference slate, keep an eye on these three Wolverines to potentially make a return debut ahead of the Big Ten opener in Week 4.
