Jim Harbaugh has been actively exploring the transfer portal recently, bolstering his roster with new talent in preparation for the upcoming season. The Wolverines’ fall camp commenced on August 2nd, and as the 2023 season rapidly approaches, three Michigan football transfers are vying for starting positions on the offensive side of the football.

To kick things off, the initial transfer in the spotlight is LaDarius Henderson, an offensive tackle who joined Michigan after his time at Arizona State. During his tenure with the Sun Devils, Henderson distinguished himself as one of the premier offensive linemen in the PAC-12 in both run-blocking and pass protection. As the 2023 season begins, he has garnered significant attention and is even being hailed as one of the most noteworthy additions from the transfer portal nationally.

Currently, it seems highly probable that LaDarius Henderson will assume the role of starting left tackle for Michigan football this fall, making him a player to watch as September 2nd approaches.

Beyond LaDarius Henderson, Myles Hinton, a former Stanford Cardinal offensive lineman and the sibling of former Wolverine Chris Hinton, is also in contention for a starting position on offense. Hinton, an offensive tackle, has undergone notable physical development and is in the best shape of his career. With the right tackle position still up for grabs, Hinton is among the trio of players contending for the starting role on the right side of the offensive line.

The third transfer from the 2023 Michigan football transfer portal class that is aiming for a starting role this fall is tight end AJ Barner, who is likely to see significant playing time regardless but is also in contention for the TE1 position. However, Barner faces considerable competition, particularly from sophomore tight end Colston Loveland, who is a strong contender as well. It is plausible that Loveland and Barner will share starting responsibilities this fall and frequently be on the field simultaneously.
