Could Michigan football be getting from a four-star running back this week? It’s possible as one of the Wolverines’ 2025 targets at the position will announce a decision this Friday.

The running back is four-star Iverson Howard out of Gaithersburg, Maryland. He’s 5-foot-10, 195 pounds, and is ranked No. 384 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings in 2025.

Michigan football has been recruiting Howard but it’s hard to know where he stands on the board. He’s got an official visit scheduled to Ann Arbor on June 7th. That’s usually a prime spot for a visit.

But Michigan football recruiting reporter EJ Holland just scouted Howard at an in-person event over the weekend. Holland posted that Howard didn’t mention an announcement in a few days, but according to Brian Dohn of 247 Sports, Howard will announce a commitment on Friday.

Where does Michgan football stand with Iverson Howard?

Howard is one of the running back targets for Michigan football but it’s hard to know if he’s a take. The Wolverines haven’t really made a strong push, even though they missed recently on Marquise Davis, who committed to Kentucky. Bo Jackson is another four-star running back from Ohio who announced official visits and didn’t include Michigan.

Jordon Davison is still on the board and just announced that he will take an official visit to Ann Arbor. However, that feels like an uphill climb. It’s fair to wonder what caused a timeline change for Howard. Maybe the Michigan staff is going all in.

Or, maybe Maryland or Florida State, the programs listed as “warm” according to 247 Sports, have secured a commitment. You’d have to think Howard knows where he’s going, otherwise why the announcement?

I don’t have a great feeling for Michigan fooball but this recruitment has been a lot about priority. If the Wolverines have suddenly made Howard a top priority, it might be enough. Pay attention to the crystal balls and expert projections because they will likely tell the story before Friday’s announcement.
