Michigan men’s basketball head coach Dusty May is nearing the start of his journey in Ann Arbor. In less than a month, May could add one of the top players in the country to his recruiting class.
Five-star combo guard Trey McKenney (St. Mary’s Prep, MI) announced his top three schools in September, including Michigan, USC and Georgetown. McKenney is expected to make his decision on November 9.
How McKenney Feels About the Program
McKenney said May had made him feel important to the program since the beginning.
“Dusty has been making me a priority ever since he got the job,” McKenney, No. 23 overall player in the On3 industry ranking, said recently. “His players are buying into what he’s bringing into the program. It’s also the hometown school, so it’s definitely a good option for me. They’re trying to make me a focal point in their program and be one of the guys to push it forward.”
McKenney is ranked as the No. 1 player in Michigan just about anywhere you look. The standout senior from Flint could become a key piece of the future of Michigan basketball, and he would likely have a chance to make an impact as a freshman.
