Michigan basketball was included among the final four teams for five-star point guard Darius Acuff. But now,  Acuff, the No. 8 overall prospect in the 2025 class, has trimmed his list down to three teams and the Wolverines are still in the mix.

Acuff is 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. He’s ranked as the No. 1 point guard in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He plays for IMG Academy now but is from Detroit.

Michigan basketball is one of the finalists along with Kansas and Arkansas. According to Joe Tipto of On3.com, UConn isn’t a consideration any longer.

Acuff also told Tipton that a decision could come soon.

Kansas and Arkansas have hosted Acuff for a visit. The Wolverines haven’t yet. There has been talk of Acuff talking a visit but that doesn’t sound like that will happen before a decision is made.

That doesn’t mean that the Wolverines are totally out of it. Acuff has said good things about Michigan basketball and here’s what he told Tipton about where Michigan stands:

Hometown school. I’ve been down there for a visit earlier in the fall. It’s a great school, a great campus. It just feels like home. Also (Dusty May) lets his guards hoop.”

Acuff would be a great fit for what May wants. The elite point guard is a three-level scorer. He’s also a dynamic creator and has all the tools needed to be solid on defense too. Arkansas and Kansas are going to be tough to beat. However, if May pulls it off, it will be his most impressive recruiting win yet.
