The loaded Michigan football secondary could have another program-built star in the works.
Sophomore safety Brandyn Hillman has seen an increase in snaps following his freshman season, and the Wolverine coaching staff has taken notice of him.
Sherrone Moore Praises Brandyn Hillman
During a meeting with the media, Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore pointed out the ascension of the sophomore safety, Hillman.
āPound-for-pound off the field, (Hillman is) one of our most athletic players,ā Moore said Monday. āIt started really in the summertime and in fall camp. He just matches athleticism with his potential and really learned the playbook, learned those things to put himself in a position to be really good. He has the prototypical size of safety … great speed, great length … and he just knows football.ā
Moore said Hillman makes the kind of mistakes he can live with.Ā
āI said something to the staff at training camp,ā Moore said. āI was like, āThis dude is always around the football.ā Even if he was wrong, he was around the football, and he figured out where the football is. Heās just continued to get better and better and earn more reps.ā
A ball magnet is always nice for a defense to have. Hillman played quarterback in high school, but he mightāve been meant for the other side of the line of scrimmage all along.Ā
āI like it where Iām at,ā Hillman said. āKeep hitting people. Thatās my job. Iām gonna keep doing it. Iām gonna stick to it.ā
