It’s time for Michigan basketball to turn the page to next season, and graduate guard Jace Howard is doing the same. According to On3, Howard has entered the transfer portal and will seek a sixth year of eligibility.
Howard is the second Wolverine to enter the portal, along with freshman guard Justin Pippen.

Howard appeared in 70 games at Michigan, all off the bench. This season he saw action in five contests and most recently hit the floor against Western Kentucky on Dec. 29.
Howard played a season-high 7:55 against Purdue Fort Wayne on Dec. 22 and went 0-for-2 from the field with two fouls and a turnover. In total he recorded 95 points, 61 rebounds, 12 assists, six steals and five blocks as a Wolverine. Howard will look to receive a medical redshirt.
Howard is the son of former Michigan head coach and star player Juwan Howard. Jace Howard wrote the following message on social media:
“Dear Michigan, these 4+ years have been life changing and I cannot thank you enough. From the wins and losses, championships and injuries, this place has become my second home for life. Playing for Michigan, wearing the Block M, and becoming a Michigan Man was truly a dream come true. And to that I say, THANK YOU and GO BLUE”
Howard was Michigan’s tallest guard, listed at 6-foot-7, 215 pounds. The Wolverines have shown interest in Tarleton State guard Bubu Benjamin and San Francisco guard Tyrone Riley IV, who are 6-soot-7 and 6-foot-6, respectively.
