Graduate defensive back and three-time letter winner, Ja’Den McBurrows has announced that he is entering his name into the transfer portal. Wherever he ends up, McBurrows will have two years of eligibility remaining to showcase his talents and hopefully prove himself able to take his skills to the next level.

McBurrows was a pretty versatile player, appearing both as a cornerback and at the nickel spot, and saw the most success his Junior season, where he appeared in 11 games. McBurrows reached four career highs that season, two of which occurred in the Michigan State game: three tackles and one interception.

Ja’Den McBurrows Hopes to Retain Junior Season Level of Excellence

By the time his third season on Michigan Defense rolled around—an injury at the end of his freshman season prevented McBurrows from playing at all during his sophomore year—McBurrows was hoping for even more success during his senior year, but further injury prevented him from playing beyond the first four games.

During his time in Ann Arbor, McBurrows racked up 13 total tackles, two pass breakups, and one interception, the majority of which occurred over the course of his junior season. After a rather disappointing senior season, it’s likely that McBurrows will be back this fall ready to prove that he is the same player he was in 2023.

After four years and two head coaches at Michigan, and with two more years of eligibility left to make up for the two he lost to injury, McBurrows will be taking those plans and aspirations for redemption elsewhere.
