Quarterback recruiting is on a different timeline, especially when it comes to the elite prospects, which tells you something about the latest Michigan football prospect offered at the position.

Following a successful camp at Michigan, the Wolverines extended an offer to in-state quarterback Donald Tabron, a Cass Tech recruit from the 2028 class.

Michigan football offers what could be the next big in-state quarterback

Yes, you read that right. That’s why it’s an offer to pay attention to. I know the 2028 class seems like a long way away but Michigan wasn’t even the first program to offer. U-M is the fourth power-4 school to offer Tabron, a scholarship.

Kentucky, Maryland, and Penn State have offered in addition to Michgan and Marshall. Penn State offered after he was at their camp earlier in June. Maryland was the first major program to offer.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound quarterback will be a freshman this season, and like some other recent in-state prospects, it feels like he’s going to be a big deal.

I’m not sure if he’ll be ranked as highly as Bryce Underwood or Dante Moore, but if you throw CJ Carr into the mix as well, the state of Michigan has produced big-time prospects.

Tabron feels like he could be the next one. Moore was one of the last quarterbacks I can remember getting offered by Michigan before he even got to high school. That’s not something U-M does often. It felt like it was warranted here and it was a smart move by the Wolverines to show Tabron that he’s already a priority.
