The Michigan Wolverines football team has appeared in two consecutive Big Ten title games and College Football Playoffs. Heading into the 2023-24 season, The Action Network released its early bowl game projections, which pit the Maize and Blue against the Florida State Seminoles in the Rose Bowl game (CFP semifinal).

Michigan Wolverines football projected to face Florida State in the Rose Bowl game

Michigan football is facing immense expectations in the 2023-24 season. Simply making it to the College Football Playoff is no longer sufficient; the Wolverines are now expected to contend for a national title. According to The Action Network’s early playoff projections, released after spring ball, Michigan is predicted to square off against the Florida State Seminoles in the Rose Bowl game on January 1st.

Despite initially low expectations, Florida State had a strong turnaround season last year, finishing 10-3. This year, the Seminoles are projected to take a significant step forward and potentially compete for their first-ever playoff spot.

Moreover, these projections also include betting odds. Michigan football is favored by 5.5 points to defeat Florida State in the Rose Bowl game and advance to the national title game against the defending national champions, the Georgia Bulldogs.

If these projections come to fruition, it would indeed be a monumental achievement for the Wolverines. Not only would it signify Michigan’s first Rose Bowl victory since 1997, but it would also represent the program’s inaugural appearance in the national title game in the modern era of college football.
