Michigan football is in search of its next elite inside linebacker, and according to On3’s EJ Holland ($), it may turn out to be 2026 four-star Auburn commit Shadarius Toodle. The Alabama native was in Ann Arbor last weekend, and Michigan linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary is set to make an in-home visit on Friday (April 18).

What kind of player would the Wolverines be getting in Toodle?

Toodle committed last July, choosing the Tigers over Texas A&M, Ohio State and more. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound recruit is ranked as the No. 9 linebacker in the country, according to On3 Industry Ranking, and ESPN has him at No. 3.

Toodle’s size sticks out on film, but so does his lateral quickness and closing speed. He has the ability to chase down a ball carrier sideline to sideline, and his eyes seem to be in the right place (on the quarterback) in zone coverage.

Toodle plays at Cottage Hill Christian Academy (Mobile, Ala.), which competes in class 3A, equivalent to Division 3. Though he may not be playing the best of the best, Toodle stands out like a Power 4 commit should. He would be a player Wolverines fans could be excited about for years to come.

Toodle’s father, Shadrick, told Holland that Michigan lines up with his son’s goals.

“Shadarius’ big thing is development,” Shadrick said. “That’s his focus. Michigan had 27 guys in the draft the last two years. That’s his ultimate goal. Michigan is at the top of the list in terms of Coach Moore and his staff getting players to the league. Michigan is a real player because of what my son wants to accomplish.”

Toodle will be back in Ann Arbor for an official visit on May 30.
