Another blue-chip defender projected to Michigan football in 2025

Michigan football is projected to land another blue-chip defender in the 2025 recruiting class.

Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore wanted to hire a staff that can recruit and he’s certainly achieved that with the hire of secondary coach Lamar Morgan.

So far, Morgan has landed two top-100 commitments at safety in the 2025 class — more top-100 commitments than Michigan football had in the 2023 and 2024 classes combined.

That’s impressive work. But Morgan is far from finished. Not only did he do a stellar job in the transfer portal, stealing one of Michigan State’s best players, as well as adding reinforcements at cornerback and safety.

Yet, Morgan seems to be closing in on another commitment for the Michigan football program. Four-star cornerback Jayden Sanders has been rising on the board. It was reported on Tuesday that he would visit for the Michigan football recruiting BBQ — an official visit I might add.

Another blue-chip defender trending to Michigan

Soon after that news came out, Sanders, who is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound cornerback out of Kilgore, Texas received a couple of expert predictions in favor of Michigan football.

EJ Holland of The Wolverine was one of the recruiting experts to log a prediciton for U-M. A Texas insider for On3.com was the other. Sanders is ranked No. 317 overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Michigan has a 93-percent chance to land Sanders according to the On3 prediction machine.

There haven’t been any crystal ball projections yet and there are some other teams to watch such as TCU, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and SMU, but it feels like Michigan is the team to beat and if Sanders makes it for the BBQ as planned, the Wolverines could close out a commitment that weekend.
