Michigan football added a couple of defensive back transfers from the SEC on Monday. Following a visit near the end of last week, brothers TJ and Tevis Metcalf decided to leave Arkansas behind for Ann Arbor. The Alabama natives are cousins with Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf.

TJ and Tevis Metcalf commit to Michigan

TJ recorded 71 tackles, three interceptions, 10 pass break ups, one forced fumble and one recovered fumble in two seasons as a Razorback. Listed a 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, TJ will have two years of eligibility remaining. TJ could make an impact as soon as he puts on the winged helmet.

Tevis wrapped up his freshman year with most of his usage coming on special teams. At 5-foot-10 and 192 pounds, Tevis doesn’t have the length of his brother, but he could be more versatile. He has three years of eligibility left and will likely be a depth player next season.

Arkansas ranked 107th in passing yards allowed per game (244.2) in 2024. Both TJ (2023) and Tevis (2024) were three star recruits coming out of high school. Their father, Tarrus Metcalf, played college football at Mississippi.
