Today, it was announced that the NCAA has launched another Michigan football investigation. This time, Jim Harbaugh and his team are facing allegations of sign stealing; more accurately, the Wolverines are being accused of sending people to future opponents’ games to steal their signs, which is illegal. Today, shortly after the news broke, the Big Ten Conference released an official statement.

Big Ten responds to second Michigan football investigation

This weekend, Michigan football will travel to East Lansing to face the Michigan State Spartans. According to a statement from the Big Ten conference, the MSU football program — and Michigan’s future opponents — have been notified of the allegations made against Jim Harbaugh and his Wolverines.

“Late Wednesday afternoon, the Big Ten Conference and the University of Michigan were notified by the NCAA that the NCAA was investigating allegations of sign stealing by the University of Michigan football program,” the statement read. “The Big Ten Conference has notified Michigan State University and future opponents. The Big Ten Conference considers the integrity of competition to be of utmost importance and will continue to monitor the investigation. The Conference will have no further comment at this time.”

This investigation is the NCAA’s second open investigation against Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football. The Wolverines are also dealing with the ‘Burgergate’ mess from earlier this year which resulted in a three-game self-imposed suspension of Harbaugh from the University of Michigan.
