Earlier this month, 3-star recruit Deyvid Palepale took his official visit to Ann Arbor. After the visit, Palepale received multiple crystal balls to Michigan football and it appeared as if Jim Harbaugh was about to lock in another defender for the already dominant 2024 recruiting class. However, a new crystal ball suggests a Big Ten rival might be trying to swing the Michigan recruiting target.
Deyvid Palepale receives new crystal ball to Penn State
Palepale is currently a 247 Sports Composite 3-star prospect with offers from numerous Power Five programs. He currently holds the No. 23 composite ranking among 2024 recruits in Pennsylvania. This month, Palepale chose to take official visits to Michigan, Penn State, and USC.
While it seemed like Palepale was trending towards Michigan football following his Ann Arbor visit, a new crystal ball from 247 Sports analyst Brian Dohn suggests that Palepale is now leaning towards a major Big Ten rival. Dohn predicts Palepale will choose his in-state option and commit to Penn State for 2024.
This news is certainly surprising and disappointing for Michigan recruiting, which has been on a recent hot streak landing blue-chip recruits I’Marion Stewart and Owen Wafle earlier this month.
Michigan football needs to act fast
Palepale has a fast-approaching commitment date, set for July 1st, meaning the Wolverines will need to act fast if they want to stay in contention for his commitment. As things currently stand, Palepale appears to be Penn State bound if no drastic changes are made in the near future.
While a lot could change between now and Palepale’s commitment, Jim Harbaugh may have lost a key defensive recruit in the 2024 class. However, Michigan fans have plenty to be excited about as the Wolverines still hold the No. 2 overall recruiting class for 2024.
