A few days ago, it seemed like elite 2026 quarterback Brady Hart was going to commit to Clemson. But, Michigan fooball turned the tide this weekend and now, on Tuesday, Hart has announced his verbal commitment to the Wolverines.
It’s an incredible turnaround and another impressive recruiting win for QB coach Kirk Campbell. The offensive coordinator also played a huge role in landing Jadyn Davis and Carter Smith.
All three of his commitments have ranked in the top 160 overall and in the top 15 of their classes. Hart, who is 6-foot-4 out of Cocoa, Florida, is ranked 92nd overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for 2026. He’s also the seventh-ranked quarterback.
For the Wolverines, this is the third top-100 commitment since Sherrone Moore became the head coach. That’s more than the previous two recruiting classes. It also includes a top-100 quarterback who has drawn comparisons to J.J. McCarthy.
Hart, who has the perfect name for a Michigan football quarterback, certainly seemed to shade the Buckeyes when he posted about their offer on Monday, posting a picture of former OSU QB Kyle McCord getting pressured by the Michigan defense in a game the Buckeyes lost 30-24.
Now, it makes all the sense in the world. Here are some thoughts on the commitment of Hart and what it means for Michigan football.
What commitment of Brady Hart means for Michigan football
- This is another huge recruiting win for Sherrone Moore and the entire staff. They are putting that narrative to bed quickly that something “was wrong” with Michigan football recruiting.
- It feels good though to see Michigan recruit the way it should recruit.
- That’s three really solid quarterbacks in a row. That offers a lot of stability for the future.
- Hart is the perfect quarterback for Michigan. He’s a great culture fit. He trolled Ohio State a little bit and he’s got tremendous arm talent.
- I love Sherrone Moore’s social media presence.
- A top-100 quarterback is a great building block for the 2026 class.
- Kirk Campbell is a superstar. I’m excited to see what he does as offensive coordinator but he’s an absolute star on the recruiting trail.
