If any Michigan football fans were worried about the future of the quarterback position, Dave Portnoy, the President of Barstool Sports and a U-M alumnus, said he has a plan.

“Michigan, I will be your quarterback guy,” Portnoy said. “I will sign them – (one) million, two million, whatever it is.”

Portnoy said $3 million would be as high as he would go, but later suggested he might be willing to go higher if he had to.

“I’m going to get us a top-10 quarterback in the portal coming out every year,” Portnoy said. See the edited clip below.

Some might be wondering how this would work.

“They’re doing a weekly spot on Pardon My Take,” Portnoy said. Pardon My Take is the flagship podcast of Barstool Sports.

“A college football recap and a college football hit, so there’s two things. $3 million dollar marketing agreement. I think that’s legal,” Portnoy said.

It seems the details still have to be figured out, but if his plan comes to fruition it could instantly change the outlook of Michigan football.

The Wolverines made a change at quarterback after Week 3, benching redshirt junior Davis Warren for junior Alex Orji. Through three games, Warren had 444 passing yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions with a 66% completion rate.

In the win over then-ranked No. 11 USC on Saturday, Orji had 75 total yards with zero touchdowns and completed 7 of 12 passes (58%). Although Orji didn’t commit a turnover, the Wolverine offense punted four times in each half, and the only explosive plays came from senior running back Kelel Mullings.
