Heading into the 2023 season, the Wolverines’ have tons of incredible duos that are looking to guide the Maize and Blue back to the Big Ten title game for the third year in a row. One Michigan football duo that isn’t being talked about nearly enough consists of offensive guards Zak Zinter and Trevor Keegan, who are arguably two of the most important faces on this year’s roster and are hoping to guide Michigan’s elite offensive line to a third-straight Joe Moore Award this fall.

Elite Michigan football duo on the offensive line is not being talked about enough

The 2023 football season kicks off in just 10 days for Michigan football, which will host East Carolina on September 2nd at Michigan Stadium. Despite the season being just over a week from starting in Ann Arbor, Zak Zinter and Trevor Keegan are still not quite earning the hype that they deserve when it comes to the Wolverines’ offensive production.

Michigan is a run-first team, there is no hiding that fact, and it has worked quite well for Jim Harbaugh and his squad over the past two seasons. This year, Keegan and Zinter have a shot to make NCAA history with a third-straight Joe Moore Award and more, which would also likely result in more team accolades for the program as a whole.

Seeing as Zak Zinter and Trevor Keegan are both offensive guards, they play less of a notable role in the passing attack but are arguably the most important factor in the running game. Last year, Donovan Edwards and Blake Corum found plenty of massive rushing lanes between the guards, which gave Michigan football a massive edge during Big Ten play. Even though there are some formidable defensive lines (with a few great defensive tackles) in the Big Ten, such as Penn State and Ohio State, the Wolverines crushed both.

Duos like Edwards and Corum, AJ Barner and Colston Loveland, and others are causing a lot of buzz in Ann Arbor right now, but with the 2023 season fast approaching, keep the offensive line in mind. Zak Zinter and Trevor Keegan are forming an elite Michigan football duo at the guard spots, so expect the Wolverines’ offense to continue to see incredible results while rushing the ball.

As a high school recruit, Michigan football offensive line standout Zak Zinter was a three-star guard, who ranked as the 18th guard in the nation at the time. Since committing to the Maize and Blue, Zinter has transformed into one of the top players in college football — he is a two-time All-Big Ten and Academic All-Big Ten selection and has been a part of both Joe Moore Award-winning offensive lines for the Wolverines.

This year, it appears that Zinter is poised for an even bigger season than ever seen before.

Unlike Zinter, Michigan football standout offensive guard Trevor Keegan was a four-star who ranked as the No. 1 recruit in his state out of high school. That said, just like Zinter, Keegan is a two-time All-Big Ten and Academic All-Big Ten selection, who has been a member of the Wolverines’ Joe Moore Award-winning lines.

After appearing in 30 games for Michigan football (with 23 starts), Keegan is possibly the best offensive guard in the country right now and could become a notable NFL Draft prospect over the next few months as he continues to control the line of scrimmage.
