Ex-NFL Coach Interviewing With Michigan Football Today

It’s a big day for Sherrone Moore and Michigan football as they search for a new defensive coordinator heading into the 2024 season. A few days ago, Jesse Minter officially accepted the LA Chargers DC position; now, the Wolverines are interviewing ex-NFL coach Wink Martindale for the opening.

Michigan football interviewing ex-NFL coach for defensive coordinator opening

Per reports, Wink Martindale will be interviewing for the Michigan football defensive coordinator position — he joins a few others as candidates for the job but is the first outsider to interview thus far.

In the past, Wink Martindale has seen action with a few NFL teams, namely the Baltimore Ravens and the New York Giants — he coached the Giants’ defense over the past two seasons. Last month, an internal issue led the Giants’ DC to leave the franchise and put him back on the market for Michigan football and others to bid for.

Wink Martindale is known for his aggressive defenses, even leading the NFL in turnovers last season. He also has a background with John Harbaugh’s Ravens, something that Michigan’s past two defensive coordinators have had, and we all saw how that turned out for the Maize and Blue.

Today is reportedly the day of the interview, so we’ll see how Sherrone Moore and Michigan football target this ex-NFL coach.
