The Rose Bowl is right around the corner for the Michigan Wolverines, who are 13-0 heading into the College Football Playoff for the second season in a row. Today, we heard from junior Michigan football quarterback JJ McCarthy, the team’s MVP this season, who had the chance to speak about his upcoming NFL Draft decision. Has he made a choice yet?
Michigan football quarterback has an NFL decision to make soon
JJ McCarthy is unarguably the best quarterback that Michigan football has had under Jim Harbaugh, who took over as head coach in late 2014. After two seasons of starting experience with Michigan, McCarthy is being pinned as a top NFL Draft choice in this cycle, even falling among the top 10 in many mock drafts.
JJ McCarthy not thinking about draft prospects
Still, with the Rose Bowl upcoming and next year perhaps presenting even better NFL Draft chances for JJ McCarthy (he could be the draft’s top QB next cycle), he has not given it any thought. In fact, according to JJ, he has entirely avoided that conversation as he is all-in on winning the national title.
“Not at all — I am completely in the present moment and soaking it in every single day,” JJ McCarthy said on Monday. “Enjoying every single practice, every single meeting with my guys. And only God knows (the answer to) that question.
“(Coach Jim Harbaugh) actually brought it up and asked if I wanted to talk about it in the week off,” he said. “I told him, ‘I’m only focused on Bama, Coach.’ And he loved it.”
Michigan poised to take on Alabama in Rose Bowl Game
With the days counting down until Michigan football faces Alabama in the Rose Bowl for a spot in the national title game, NFL Draft hype continues to grow surrounding the outstanding junior quarterback. That said, while his decision is on everyone else’s minds right now, it appears that JJ McCarthy himself has not given it any thought yet.
