Michigan quarterback Davis Warren (16) warms up before the Oregon game at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.

Michigan football had a rough month of October, and November didn’t get off to a much better start. Although the offense seems to have improved, it still has a ways to go in terms of competing nationally. Head coach Sherrone Moore spoke with the media on Monday, and he mentioned how coaching could help the team take a step forward.

Moore said the entire staff has to up their game.

“We just got to continue to get better,” Moore said. “We got to find ways to get better in every way and put our guys in the best position. We are where we are with our record, but (we) got a chance to go fight and go win some more games, so that’s the goal.”

Group Mentality

The Wolverines are ranked 127th in the FBS in total offense. There have been some flashes of high level production, but nothing has been sustained thus far. Moore said offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell shouldn’t receive all the blame.

“I think for us, it’s got to be a collective effort on how we do this and how we formulate the offense,” Moore said. “Just got to be better as a whole group. It’s not just (Campbell), it’s got to be everybody – everybody’s got to be a team. We got to do everything together. So we’ll figure out what’s the best way for us to continue to move the football and be successful.”

Keep Pushing

From the final score alone (38-17), it wouldn’t seem like Michigan put up much of a battle against No. 1 Oregon on Saturday. Moore said he saw something different.

“Obviously the record’s not where we want it to be, but I love watching the fight,” Moore said. “In the second half of that game (against Oregon), a lot of teams would’ve laid down. A lot of teams would’ve said, ‘Ah, it’s over’… we want to keep fighting. And that’s the goal and that’s what we’re going to keep doing.”
