Michigan basketball fans have plenty of reasons to be excited for the upcoming season, and four-star combo guard Trey McKenney is certainly one of them. The Flint (MI) native racked up accolades at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Prep like it was a hobby, including a selection as a McDonald’s All-American game.
For everything he does on the court, McKenney is also a high-character person, and he seems to be a Michigan man through and through.
Trey McKenney inks NIL deal and plays in Chris Brickley Invitational
Earlier this month, McKenney inked an NIL deal with Randy Wise Automotive. As long as he’s a Wolverine, McKenney will be driving a new 2025 Ford Bronco.
“With our company founded in Flint, we are extremely excited to partner with the first Flint basketball player to attend Michigan since Glen Rice,” Christopher Wise, vice president of Randy Wise Automotive, told TheWolverine.com. “… In the past, the Randy Wise Team has helped organize Flint area charity work, bringing (former head football coach) Jim Harbaugh and the entire Michigan football team up for a day of service in the summer of 2022.”
In April, incoming No. 1 football recruit Bryce Underwood partnered with Blue by Ninety and Feldman Chevrolet to provide a new car for a security guard from his high school. The Wolverines seem to embrace being so close to the motor city.
On Saturday (May 10), McKenney competed in the Chris Brickley High School All-American game in Chicago. Chris Brickley is an NBA skills trainer and a “must-stop destination for high-level basketball players looking to improve their games”.
McKenney has played in just about every major high school basketball event, and he already has a gold medal under his belt from the 2024 U18 Fiba AmeriCup. Whether it’s one minute of playing time or a spot in the starting five, McKenney’s debut will come with much anticipation.
