J.J. McCarthy told reporters on Friday that Michigan football is in good hands with Sherrone Moore leading the way as head coach.
When Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL, Michigan football rallied around Sherrone Moore. From the players to the university, to the fans — it was clear who everyone wanted.
Sherrone Moore wasn’t just the right choice to be the next Michigan football head coach. He was the only choice. Moore was instrumental in building the championship culture that the Wovlerines made famous. He’s also one of the elite O-line teachers in all of college football.
NFL teams have talked about how advanced Michigan football offensive linemen are, saying that they are generally two years ahead of other college prospects.
That credit goes to Moore, who coached the offensive line in addition to being the offensive coordinator. Now, Grant Newsome will coach the offensive line for Michigan football, but after working under Moore as the tight ends coach, he’ll do just fine.
Just like Moore will do just fine as head coach. If you listen to J.J. McCarthy though, Sherrone will be better than fine.
J.J. McCarthy offers a ringing endorsement of Sherrone Moore
McCarthy, the greatest (college) quarterback in Michigan football history said this when asked how Sherrone Moore will do as head coach.
“Amazing. The most important quality of a head coach at the University of Michigan is being a Michigan Man, and he’s got that. He’s earned his stripes, and the boys love him…”
So far, Moore has had great success with player retention, despite opposing schools offering starters $1.75 million to transfer in some cases, and as long as the Wolverines can get through the spring without any major defections, Michigan shouldn’t suffer much dropoff, especially with Moore in charge.
