Latest J.J. McCarthy Update

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell spoke to the media on Wednesday and gave an update on the first round pick.

“He’s really knocked it out of the park every step of the way,” O’Connell said. “As his rehab has picked up, we noticed a little swelling in there, and with the time that we do have, he’s been doing everything we asked of him. (We) just wanted to make sure that there was no cause for concern, and all reports were very positive. He’s on the original timeline (and) in good shape.”

The Vikings are 7-2 with backup Sam Darnold behind center this season. On the other hand, out of every team in the NFC with a winning record, Minnesota has scored the fewest points (221). It’s been the Vikings’ defense keeping them in games, as they’ve allowed just 157 points through nine games. The only team in the NFL that has allowed less points is the Los Angeles Chargers led by Jim Harbaugh and Jesse Minter.
