After being thrown into the fire of a primetime Big Ten matchup, 7th-year quarterback Jack Tuttle spoke about the loss and his unique journey to Ann Arbor at a press conference earlier this week.
“It’s a blessing to (be) back out there and play for such a great University. Obviously it wasn’t the outcome we wanted, but we learned a lot,” Tuttle said to the media earlier this week. “Personally, there were a couple of plays I wish I had back that could have won us the game – I take responsibility for my mistakes and I’m going to be better for it.”
Tuttle threw an interception and lost a fumble in the second half on Saturday, but he also gave the Michigan offense a spark it hasn’t seen this season. Tuttle said he didn’t plan on still being in Ann Arbor this season.

Tuttle was ‘Hellbent’ on 7th Year After Signing to Be McCarthy’s Backup
“When I came to the University of Michigan, I didn’t know I’d have another year,” Tuttle said. “I came here to be the backup to J.J. (McCarthy). That’s what happened. I’m blessed to be granted another year. As soon as I found that out I was hellbent on coming back and getting another opportunity to play for the University of Michigan.”
With so much uncertainty in the QB room so far this season, one might expect the quarterbacks to just worry about what is happening on the field. Tuttle said he wants the team to improve off the field as well.
“We’re tight-knit but we have to be even more tight-knitted as a unit,” Tuttle said. “We are finding ourselves this week and we had a great practice today. We keep on doing that, then we’ll be in a good spot.”
